Wondering to cook something light and different? Why not go for a steamed less fat dish of dhokla. Made of besan and suji with curd, its a easy to make and lovely to eat dish for all the diet conscious food lovers. The tempting yellow color topped with black mustard seeds and green chillies, its all together a colorful dish. Adding some fresh coriander leaves gives it a more presentable look.
I decided of making this instant dhokla in our breakfast when we were thinking of clubbing something light with Bread Poha. And it was really really appreciated when served. My husband went crazy about it and really liked the idea.
Thus sharing the same with you, a Gujrati dhokla made easy to be cooked!
Instant Dhokla Recipe
Serves – 6-7
Calaries/ Serving – 78
11/2 cups gram flour (besan)
2 tbsp semolina (suji)
1 cup curd
½ cup water
¼ tsp soda (mitha soda)
1 tsp eno fruit salt
¼ tsp turmeric (haldi)
1 green chilly (chopped)
1tsp mustard seeds
2-3 green chillies slit into long pieces
1tbsp lemon juice
2/4 cup water
3 tsp sugar
2tbsp coriander leaves (finely chopped)
- Sift gram flour. Mix gram flour, semolina, curd, water, oil, salt, sugar, turmeric & green chillies to make a smooth batter of a thin pouring consistency. Beat well. Add soda & lemon juice. Beat well for a few seconds. Add eno just before steaming.
- Immediately pour this mixture in the steamer & cook for 10-15 minutes.
- For tempering, in a pan, mix oil, chillies, mustard seeds, water, sugar & lemon juice. Pour over dhokla and let it be for 10 mins. Sprinkle coriander and serve.
