Purani Dilli ki Galiyan @ Zodiac Restaurant, Fortune Hotel, Gurugram

Have been to the Fortune Hotel earlier for a personal reason, but never got a chance  to explore their wonderful restaurant Zodiac before. A heartwarming welcome by the staff adds up to the experience along with the soothing ambiance of the property. Located with the convenience of Ninex Mart complex with shops around, the hotel makes sure that their guests get their required stuff.  Zodiac is their all day dining restaurant located on the ground floor.IMG_3830

Kitchen Pops was invited be a part of their ongoing festival Purani Dilli ki Galiyan where they brought all the special delicacies of Delhi 6 – Chandni Chowk to Gurgaon, or I shall say Gurugram and that by making sure that the taste remains the way you get there. The menu was curated by keeping in mind the love of food for Hindus as well as Muslims of that region.

We were welcomed by a special Nawabz drink, which was a mix of roohafza with milk, followed by some savories like Onion bhajiya, Kalmi Vada and Bean mathri.  Each of these were made and served to make you feel as if you are sitting in Purani Dilli. We were also served with one of the most favorite “Golgappas” with 2 types of water i.e. meetha paani and khatta paani. Golgappas were not as you would have expected them to be in Old Delhi but Papri Chaat made it up on its behalf.IMG_3837

After loving the chats we went ahead to have the main course where we were served with Puri bhaaji i.e. Aloo ki Sabzi and bedmi. Next along with it was the most loved in Delhi dish – Cholle Bhature, which was just amazing! The cholle could have been better, but the bhatura was very nicely done.

We were then presented with Aloo dum and Khameeri roti along with Veg Biryani. The Biryani was just the way it should be.IMG_3839

Desserts again came from the purani Dilli ki galiyan, where we got rasgulla, jalebi and phirni.

If you are a lover of old Delhi, then you must try this at Zodiac.
