Located at a very convenient location at the North Campus of Delhi University, the place makes you aware what to expect from the name itself. The café has a seating capacity of 50-60 pax serves you with all the yummylicious and easy on pocket food.
Chef Anil welcomes us with a watermelon shot which was fresh watermelon juice to beat the heat. Pretty impressed with the 2-3 options of seating, the lounge seating, the normal sofa seating and the high chairs, we opted for the lounge seating.
We were served with Arancini in starters, which was supposedly their best-selling starter as we saw it almost on all the tables around. These balls were made with Arborio rice and a mix of 4 types of cheese. Crispy from outside and sticky and gooey from inside, it was melting well in the mouth.
Next came the Mexican Nachos (Veg) which were the nacho chips served with a topping of cheese sauce and salsa. We found the nachos crunchy, but the cheese sauce was too think to stick to them and thus did not play its role.
We also tried Mezze platter (Veg) on Chef Anil’s recommendation. This platter has falafel along with hummus and tzatziki dip. The falafel was crispy and yummy.
For the main course, Chef chose to serve us with their Classic Ratatouille (veg) which was a baked dish with capsicum, onion, tomatoes, and zucchini along with the tomato sauce. We found it a little raw and could have been baked more to get the actual flavours.
Dessert is something which we always want to be the best to end our meal with but we were little disappointed with the Fried Ice Cream served by The University Bistro. It was a coconut ice cream, fried and served with chocolate sauce, but unfortunately, the ice cream was over-frozen and was so hard that we were not able to cut it and have it for next 20 mins. They really need to think about it!
What we really loved were their shakes-
- Ferrero Rocher, which was a nicely blended Ferrero Rocher chocolate, along with milk maid, vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup.
- After 8 – which was so refreshing minty with the flavours of after 8 chocolate along with milkmaid, vanilla ice cream and fresh milk.
We also tried their Green apple and cucumber cola which was made with fresh cucumber, zeera powder, green apple syrup and ice. It could have been made better by adding some fizz to it.
